A 12-year-old female (she/her) is referred to you for further evaluation and management of an “ovarian cyst.”  She initially presented to her pediatrician with several weeks of vague abdominal pain worse with activity and prolonged sitting. The pain is dull and aching with occasional sharp twinges located diffusely in the lower abdomen. She has taken ibuprofen periodically which helps. She continues her normal activities but notes less interest in biking and other outdoor activities as she is afraid the pain will be exacerbated.
