A 5-year-old girl is brought to your office by her mother with complaints of intermittent, foul-smelling, bloody discharge for 2 weeks. The mother states that the patient is healthy and up-to-date on her vaccines. She had no problems until 2 weeks ago when she began to have scant, blood-tinged discharge staining her panties. Her mother states that for the last 4 days she has also noted a foul smelling odor that does not seem to go away, even after the patient bathes.
